Frequently Asked Questions

Am I dealing with a quality organization?
As master builders of hand-crafted log homes, Falcon Log Homes Ltd., located in 100 Mile House B.C. Canada is dedicated to excellence in design, craftsmanship and quality. If properly designed and built, handcrafted houses are one of the most enduring and beautiful forms of construction that exist in the world today.

At Falcon Log Homes Ltd. we realize that the quality of a handcrafted package bears direct relation to the skill, knowledge and craftsmanship of the builder. Our professional crew of log home builders are chosen for their ability to create homes that surpass any other on the market.

Choosing the right log home company may very well be the most important decision you will make in taking your vision to reality.

Why work with a dealer?
We can manage the complete project, from design, consultancy, log erections, general contracting
and maintenance. No single log home company can provide the complete package. Why have
a third party general contractor discussing the technicalities with a log home company unknown to them.
Joshua Tree Log Homes are trained professional engineers and builders and will complete the home
build process to completion.

Are the logs completely pre-cut, partially pre-cut or random length?
Log walls are completely pre-cut, including openings for doors and windows. All logs are pre-drilled for the through-bolt construction. Dado slots are milled for window and door T-jambs and for keyblock butt joints. Some on-site notching and cutting may be required for roof members such as ridge beams, rafters and/or purlins. Holes for electrical wiring are drilled on-site at the time of the log wall stacking.

What is included in the standard package?
We will supply;
Complete log shell (all log work for walls and the roof beams)
Thru Bolts for corners
Flashing
Pre-Cut electrical boxes and holes
Log Stairs and Railing (interior and exterior)
Door and window openings with keyways for framing to accept jambs.

Joshua Tree Log homes are licensed builders in the state of Missouri. We can offer a
complete service from supplying the home to general contracting. Hence, your complete log
home will be managed from start to finish by a single company.

What species of wood will be supplied?
We offer a variety of wood species. All of the species offered are suitable for log home construction. The best wood for you depends on your preference of color and appearance. We offer 4 different wood species. These include Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Engeman Spruce and Cypress.
Our recommendation is Douglas Fir.

Handcrafted Homes are more expensive than milled log home kits.

Typically handcrafted homes are more expensive than milled kits. Remember that
numerous hours of craftsmanship go into each log.
Send me some sketches of your plans and I can supply an informal quotation. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Are the logs pressure treated against rot and decay before delivery?
All homes are treated with a preservative before delivery.

Will I receive an itemized cost of the package?
We provide a detailed quote which lists all items to be provided.

What are the cost and conditions of delivery?
Our delivery time depends upon the quantity of homes we have on order. Typically it will
be about 6-10 weeks. This also depends upon the size of the home. We will agree on a
payment schedule with the final payment (usually 10%) due when the logs are delivered.

Will the home meet local building codes?
Joshua Tree Log Homes recommends you contract a Professional Architect to supply all plans. In the state of Missouri, all Log Home plans should be signed and sealed by an architect. Our design team will work closely with a local architect supplying log detail, drawings, and structural information.

Does the producer provide on-site technical assistance?
We will provide technical assistance for assembling the log home. In fact, we prefer to manage
the complete project. We can provide continued technical assistance right
up to completion and maintenance programs after completion.

Does the producer offer custom design services?
Our Cad staff will provide a complete set of plans as well as a 3D virtual tour. Local building regulations may require Missouri Licensed Architects to review and seal/stamp the drawings prior to submitting
for a building permit.
